About the Wehrle’s Salamander (Plethodon wehrlei)
The Wehrle’s salamander is endemic to the eastern United States and is identified by its larger body size covered with little white dots. Its ventral side is often a dark grey, and its throat region is yellowish-white. This species of salamander can grow to upwards of 7in from nose to tip of the tail. Like most salamanders, it is nocturnal and remains under a cool, damp cover during the day. They select to feed on small insects and macroinvertebrates in the soil.
