About the Spring Peeper (Pseudacris crucifer)
The spring peeper is native to the eastern U.S and Canada and is most often recognized for its soothing vocalizations that come alive as the sun sets. These little frogs and I mean very small as in 2.5cm, are very similar to the Cope’s Gray Tree Frog in the color pattern but are often more of a brownish or a green tint. The easiest and most common way to distinguish a spring peeper from other species of frogs is the X-like pattern located on the dorsal side. Typically with these frogs, the males are smaller in size when compared to the females but will have a darker ventral side.
