About the Leopard Frog (Lithobates pipiens)
The leopard frog is native to marsh and wetlands of both Canada and the lower 48 states of the U.S. In fact, it is the state amphibian of both Vermont and Minnesota. This frog is distinguished by its leopard-like spotting pattern and is one of the larger species of frogs. This frog can grow upwards of 5 in and be seen in 2 color forms, including a light green and brown; the green one, however, will lack spots on the backside. Like most frogs, this species feeds on aquatic insects, crickets, flies, worms, most of any invertebrates.
