About the Kit Fox (Vulpes macrotis)
The Kit Fox is native to the arid environments of western United States stretching from southern Oregon down into southern Nevada and New Mexico. It is the smallest of the canid family in North American and is distinguished by its large ear to body size ratio. These foxes don’t get any bigger than 6 lbs and have a nose to tail length of 18-35in. The Kit Fox is mostly a nocturnal species predating on small mammals such as kangaroo rats and rabbits.
