About the Indian Blackbuck (Antilope cervicapra)
The Blackbuck is a beautiful member of the antelope family found in India and parts of Nepal (though it has been introduced to the United States and Argentina as well). At first glance, the Blackbuck looks “dipped,” as the lower body is cream in color, while the upper half of the male is chocolate brown, the female more of golden caramel. The Blackbuck’s face is typically brown with an ivory-colored fur outlining its large, black eyes. The males are instantly recognizable by their spiraling, twisting black and tan horns that grow outward in a gorgeous “v” shape.
