About the Woodland Deer Mouse (Peromyscus maniculatus)

The woodland deer mouse is a small rodent native to the grassy woodlands of North America. The woodland deer mouse primarily feeds on small seeds and macroinvertebrates. Unlike common belief, this mouse is not a group nester and will often be found alone in the cavity of snag trees. Woodland mice are a great source of protein for many predators of their range, including but not limited to snakes, owls, and mustelids.
