About the Coturnix (Coturnix coturnix)
The Coturnix, otherwise referred to as the European Common Quail, is native to most of Europe and Northern Africa. Interestingly enough, the European quail is a member of the pheasant family (Phasianidae). Like most ground-nesting birds, it feeds on small insects and seeds it can find as it forages the dense grasslands. It is not uncommon to see these birds in small groups throughout the year, however during migration, and they can be seen in large social groups.
