About the Copper Pheasant (Syrmaticus soemmerringii)
The Copper Pheasant is native to the islands of Japan, where they inhabit the hills and mountain forests. This pheasant feeds primarily on insects, roots, and grains. It gets its name from its copper plumage and a distinguishing yellowish bill with a red face mask. Males can mature to an adult length of 34-54in from head to tail while females mature to 20-21 in.
