About the Wood Frog (Lithobates sylvaticus)
The wood frog is native to the Boreal forests of Canada and stretching southeastward into the Appalachian mountain range. This frog can be easily distinguished by the black bar or mask covering its eyes on either side. They can grow anywhere from 2-3 inches and are often either brown tan or a shade of green. They can be found in peat bogs, vernal pools (seasonal ponds), and moist woodland forests. Like most small frogs, they are feeding on small ground-dwelling invertebrates, aka insects.
