This is a stunning East-African White-Bearded Wildebeest shoulder taxidermy mount. It is posed with the head in an upright position looking slightly to its left out into the room. The thick, shaggy hair and strong hide quality are both exceptional, as are the horns, achieving an SCI Score of 56 1/8″. The East-African White-Bearded Wildebeest is very rare which give it our star rating. All of this combined with the craftsmanship earns this item our coveted Premier Star™ overall quality rating. All applicable dimensions are included to help ensure this item will fit within your intended display space.

Animal Description

About the White Bearded Wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus albojubatus)

The White Bearded Wildebeest (Gnu) can be found in the savannas, woodlands, and plains of both southeastern Kenya and northeastern Tanzania in Africa. It shares its name with only one other type of species – the black wildebeest. Males can weigh over 600 lbs growing horns that curve horizontally outward from the head, making a curl back inward toward the tip. Wildebeests require water every few days, so a nearby water source is vital to combat the heat of the African plains. This need for water often brings them to rivers, where they must avoid land predators such as the Lion and Hyena, as well as Crocodiles that lie patiently in the water, ready to ambush the Wildebeest as it comes to drink at the river’s edge. Their diet consists mostly of grasses and short green vegetation, as their rounded mouth makes eating other browse difficult.
