    Animal Description

    About the Wallaby (Macropus agilis)

The Wallaby is native to the dense, rugged forests of Australia and New Guinea. They select these areas over the plains of Australia, so they are not competing with the Kangaroo who is very territorial and much larger. Wallaby’s feed primarily on grasses and other green foliage, but the food is often scarce in the arid climates of Australia, so they will travel long distances to find food and water sources. The average adult size of one of these marsupials is around 25-50 lbs depending on sex and can stand up to almost 3 feet.
