About the Thresher Shark (Alopias vulpinus)

The Thresher shark can be found in all temperate and tropical oceans across the globe and stick to the pelagic region within that. This shark has a ridiculous caudal fin that sticks much further out than any other caudal fin of any other shark species. They use this elongated tail to slap and stun their prey to hunt the fish successfully. They are feeding on schools of primarily cuttlefish and squids but will also feed on smaller oceanic fish. This specific species of thresher shark is typically a brownish tan color, but like any species, it can be variable within that.
