About the Stone Sheep (Ovis dalli stonei)
The Stone Sheep is a subspecies of the Dall Sheep that are larger and chunkier. The Stone Sheep also features large and wider horns relative to Dall Sheep. They weigh 180 to 220 pounds, but they can occasionally get to 250 pounds. The females (or ewes) are much smaller compared to the males (or rams). The stone sheep also differs from dall sheep in that they are not white. Stone sheep roam in the alpine country and like steep, rocky terrain to easily escape from predators. They are found in Northern British Columbia, the Yukon Territory, and Alaska.
