About the Ronda Ibex (Capra pyrenaica hispanica)
The Ronda Ibex is the smallest of all Spanish Ibex with horns growing in an upward motion with a spiral turn of approximately 90 degrees. Spanish Ibex are native to the Spanish Iberian Peninsula where they inhabit rocky cliffs with the ability to do so because of their flexible hooves and short stubby legs. They use this as an advantage to flee from predators who can’t scale the rocky slopes at the rate the Ibex can. Both males and females have these traits however males are much larger in every regard including size, weight, and horns. The rocky cliffs these animals inhabit make for hard growth of vegetation which is why they must with between grazers and growers depending on the availability of food.
