About the Ring-Tailed Cat (Bassariscus astutus)

The ringtail is a small carnivorous mammal in the raccoon family, typically found in wooded desert climates of Mexico and the southwestern parts of the United States. The ringtail is typically the size of a domestic cat, while their coat is usually tan/brown in color. The ringtail gets its namesake from the tail, which is about the length of its body, striped black, and white, and often used for balance while navigating its way through treetops.
