About the Northern Pintail (Anas acuta)

The Pintail duck is a beautiful puddle duck found primarily in the northernmost states of North America and stretching into Canada. Like most dabbling ducks, it can be found in shallow wetlands, seasonally wet croplands, and wet meadows. This duck is easily distinguished by its long pointed tail feathers and bright blue bill. In the world of duck hunting, this is considered to be a trophy duck and is highly sought after. Male ducks have a gorgeous green and bronze speculum that is displayed during flight.
