About the Mountain Nyala (Tragelaphus buxtoni)
The Mountain Nyala is native to the high altitudes of central Ethiopia. This antelope selects to feed on low-height herbs and brushes that can be found most of the year. This animal features a grey to brown coat with very thin faded white stripes on its dorsal side. It can also be distinguished by a line so white spots that run down the length of its body. Males are seen with horns that have a curling fashion as they grow. Males grow to an average of 400-650 lbs, while females are noticeably smaller at 300-440 lbs.
