    About the Mandarin Duck (Aix galericulata)

    The Mandarin Duck is a beautiful bird that most commonly resembles an American Wood Duck. It has a red/orange bill and colorful purple breast, with the remaining feathers comprised of green, blue, brown, and sienna colorations. The mandarin originates from Asia but is now found captively throughout the United States. Mandarins typically eat seeds and plants while also including fish and small insects in their diet.
