About the Chinook Salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha)
The Chinook Salmon is a massive fish that can be found along the northern Pacific coast, as far south as Baja, CA…all the way north along with Alaska and Siberia, then further south down into Japan. The chinook’s average size is 10-50 lbs, but the biggest can be 130 lbs. The Chinook is blue-green, with a red or purple hue on the back and top and silver sides. It has black spots on its tail and the upper half of its body.
