Both beautiful fish measure 11 inches in length, 11 inches in girth, and they have an estimated live weight of 1.11 lbs! All of their fins are intact, their paintwork is stunning, and you can tell these have been crafted by a master taxidermist. This is by far the best set of Bluegill mounts we have ever had! Both of these fish are reproduction, meaning no real animal parts were used in the making of this piece. About the Bluegill (Lepomis macrochirus)
The bluegill is a freshwater fish native to the United States and can be found anywhere between the Rocky Mountains and the east coast, from northern Mexico to western Minnesota. The bluegill gets its name from the black and dark blue coloration along its spine and under its gills. The fish itself is often dark gray, dark blue, or even a sheen of purple. The underbelly or “chin” of the bluegill is usually light yellow, though the male’s underbelly turns bright orange during mating season. The dorsal fin tends to grow along with the majority of the fish’s spine, while its body appears tall, short, and flattened.
