About the Bluefin Tuna (Thunnus thynnus)
The Atlantic Bluefin Tuna and the Pacific Bluefin Tuna are both species of tuna that are in the Scombridae family. The Atlantic bluefin tuna is found in the western and eastern Atlantic ocean and also the Mediterranean Sea. The Pacific Bluefin Tuna is found in the Pacific Ocean. Both tuna are fished commercially because of their sought-after meat. They can grow to as heavy as 1,500 pounds and are one of the largest Perciformes.
