About the Common Warthog (Phacochoerus africanus)
The Common Warthog is a wild member of the pig family that gets its namesake from the “warts” covering its broad, flat head. Though they may not be the most attractive mammal on the planet, the warthog is generally docile, preferring to avoid confrontation. At the same time, it grazes for vegetation in the grassland and savannah climates of Africa. The Warthog is usually slate grey, with black and dark brown hair upon the top of its head and draped across its back. The Warthog is probably most famous for its four razor-sharp tusks, which are useful in combat but primarily reserved for digging and navigating brush.
