About the Pink Salmon (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha)
The Pink Salmon is the smallest and most abundant of the Pacific salmon and are most commonly found off the coasts of Alaska. Pink salmon are on average 3.5-5 lbs and grow upwards of 2 feet in total length. These fish can be distinguished from other salmon because of the black dots on both the dorsal side of the fish and the tail fin. A fun fact about salmon is the males will change their entire appearance when moving into the breeding season. They will develop a hump on their backs and become darker and red with green blotches on their sides.
