About the Largemouth Bass (Micropterus salmoides)
The largemouth bass is a popular freshwater game fish native to North America and found throughout temperate water climates all over the world. Both large and smallmouth bass belong to the sunfish family, but the largemouth gets its namesake from the oversized, jutted jaw, which gives it such an overstated underbite. It is typically olive green in color, with darker markings along its sides. At the same time, its fins are generally understated, light green, and smaller in size compared to its bulky build. Largemouth Bass are generally a few inches longer and few lbs heavier than their Smallmouth counterparts.
