This is a great Tiger Trout reproduction freshwater fish taxidermy mount. This trout measures 18″ long, has a girth of 8″ and an estimated live weight of over 1.5 lbs. It is posed facing the viewer’s left side with an open mouth. The fins, painting and taxidermy craftsmanship are all in terrific shape, especially considering the fact that this piece is a reproduction, and not a real skin mount, earning our Premier™ overall quality rating. All applicable dimensions are included to help ensure this item will fit within your intended display space.

Animal Description

About the Tiger Trout (Salmo trutta × Salvelinus fontinalis)

The tiger trout is a sterile Brown and Brook trout hybrid. The fish gets its name from the pattern resembling that of a tiger. This fish has the mixture of spots of both species but has the striped pattern of the native Brook Trout. This is a very renowned hybrid because the species that produce it are of different genres, meaning they are not even subspecies of each other. Tiger trout, in particular, are known for being piscivorous or primarily fish-eating species which is unlike its parent species who primarily feed on larvae and small invertebrates.
