About the Arctic Grayling (Thymallus arcticus)
The arctic grayling is the larger species of the grayling fish, typically found throughout northern Europe, across Eurasia, and into Siberia, as well as North America. The grayling can be easily distinguished by its larger scales and smallmouth containing teeth on the maxillary bone, though it’s most prominent feature is its sail-like dorsal fin. Grayling is an “indicator species”, and are sensitive to climate, requiring cool, well oxygenated and swift-moving water.
