About the Yellowfin Tuna (Thunnus albacares)
The Yellowfin Tuna, also known as ahi, is found in tropical and subtropical oceans around the world. The yellowfin tuna is one of the larger tuna species and can weigh up to 400 pounds. It also features bright yellow second dorsal and anal fins. They can also reach as far back as the tail in mature fish. The yellowfin tuna also features finlets between the anal fin and the tail as well as the second dorsal fin and the tail. Yellowfin tuna have been fished commercially for their highly sought-after meat ever since World War II.
