About the Grizzly Bear (Ursus Arctos Horribilis)
The legendary Grizzly Bear is a a sub-species of the brown bear, getting their name from the appearance of the grizzled greyish tips at the end of their brown fur. Unlike the brown bear, the Grizzly is only found in the northernmost wooded or hilly areas of North America, most notably in the Kodiak areas of Canada, as well as Alaska. Their diet, and behavior, is much the same as the brown bear, though a coastal Grizzly on a steady diet of salmon can weigh upwards of 1,500 lbs.

About the Grizzly Bear (Ursus arctos horribilis)
The Grizzly Bear or Inland Brown Bear is often smaller and more aggressive than the Brown Bear. This is attributed to the lower quality of food that coastal bears feed on fish and seals. Grizzly bears are often limited to berries, grubs, and small rodents, with an occasional larger prey. The term grizzly bear comes from the color of its fur, referring to the grayish coat color on the shoulders and head. Grizzlies specifically live in Alaska’s Interior and Arctic regions and down into parts of the lower 48.
