This is a great African Cape Buffalo shoulder taxidermy mount. It is posed with the head in a sneak position looking straight out into the room. The horns on this Buffalo have an impressive tip-to-tip measurement for 72 5/8″, and combine to achieve a gross score of 93 5/8″. It has great hair quality, and expert-quality taxidermy work, earning our coveted Excellent Plus™ overall quality rating. All applicable dimensions are included to help ensure this item will fit within your intended display space.

– It will hang on a single properly anchored drywall screw.

Cape Buffalo Horns

Cape Buffalos often tend to to chip and crack their horns. This is especially prominent in the area referred to as the ‘Boss’. The Boss is the extra wide area of the horn located directly on top of the Cape Buffalos head. When most taxidermists mount a Cape Buffalo, they will repair the areas of the Boss that were chipped, cracked, flaked off, etc.. This is a common practice and nearly every cape buffalo we come across will have some repair work done in this area. Customers should always expect some form of repair to be present when ordering a cape buffalo Shoulder Mount or Horn Mount. Feel free to contact us with any questions regarding an individual mount. Animal Description

About the Cape Buffalo (Syncerus caffer caffer)

The cape buffalo thrives in virtually all variations of grassland habitats throughout sub-Saharan Africa, from lowland floodplains to dry savannah. The adult cape buffalo has a relatively thin black coat, while calves usually have a browner coat in color. The horns of the cape buffalo are unique in their design, as they actually “fuse” at the crown of the skull, which is referred to as the “boss.” From the base, the horns turn down and then bend up back towards the crown of the skull.
