    Animal Description

About the Tian Shan Maral (Cervus canadensis songaricus)

The Tian Shan Maral is native to Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan’s Tian Shan Mountain ranges. It is the largest subspecies of Asian elk in both the overall body size and antlers. The Tian Shan is often seen as darker and with a longer skull than the American Elk. The antlers on the Asian subspecies are very similar in that to the North American Elk. Both of which are subspecies of the more broad classification of Cervus Canadensis, meaning elk or wapiti.
