About the Cape Bushbuck (Tragelaphus sylvaticus)
The Bushbuck is one of the most common antelope species in Africa. Their preferred habitat includes a mixture of savannah and woodlands in more temperate, less arid regions. Bushbuck have horns with a slight twist running their entire length that curves slightly out/backward near the base and back together toward the tips. Their coloration is a mixture of browns throughout the back with a white-spotted side and flank, white and brown legs, a white ‘harness’ on the front chest, and a mixture of white, sienna, and dark brown the face. Bushbuck often weigh between 100-175 lbs, with their diet including mainly browse with other vegetation mixed in.
