About the Common Reedbuck (Redunca arundinum)
The mountain reedbuck can be found in the mountainous forest regions of Africa, where its diet includes both grasses and leaves. The mountain reedbuck stands around 30 inches at the shoulder and weighs up to 65 lbs. It has tan/grey hair with a white-colored underbelly and reddish tan head and shoulders. The male has horns that grow up to approx. Fourteen inches in length, growing upwards and curving slightly forward. It forms small herds of around five to 30 individuals depending upon the time of year, usually including a single mature adult male. Adolescent males are often forced away from their herds and create bachelor groups. They are diurnal but prefer to rest during the extreme heat of the midday sun.
