About the Ruddy Shelduck (Tadorna ferruginea)

This species is primarily found from southeast Europe across central Asia to Lake Baikal. This duck species has a length of 23-28in and a wingspan stretching up to 53in. It has a rust-colored plumage, light-colored head, and black tail feathers. This duck primarily chooses to nest in lakes and reservoirs and has an acting partner for life. This omnivorous duck feeds on shoots of aquatic plants and macroinvertebrates found on terrestrial and aquatic plant life.
