For sale, we have a great Bluegill taxidermy fish mount, mounted to a barnwood board and facing to the viewer’s left side. This beautiful fish measures 7.5″ in length, 7″ in girth, and has an estimated live weight of .15 lbs. The fins are in good shape and the painting is wonderful. All of this combined with the terrific taxidermy craftsmanship has helped this item earn our Nice+™ overall quality rating. All applicable dimensions are included to help ensure this item will fit within your intended display space.

Animal Description

About the Bluegill (Lepomis macrochirus)

The bluegill is a freshwater fish native to the United States and can be found anywhere between the Rocky Mountains and the east coast, from northern Mexico to western Minnesota. The bluegill gets its name from the black and dark blue coloration along its spine and under its gills. The fish itself is often dark gray, dark blue, or even a sheen of purple. The underbelly or “chin” of the bluegill is usually light yellow, though the male’s underbelly turns bright orange during mating season. The dorsal fin tends to grow along with the majority of the fish’s spine, while its body appears tall, short, and flattened.
