    Animal Description

About the Osceola Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo osceola)

Osceola Turkey is endemic to the Florida Peninsula and is also referred to as the Florida Turkey. This turkey is identified by its thin white barring on the tail feathers. It is more easily distinguished by the thicker and more predominant black bar on the top part of the tail feathers than in Eastern Turkey. These turkeys also tend to have more iridescent green and red in their feathers when compared to the eastern turkey. They are the smallest of the 5 North American Turkey species.
