This is a great African Cape Buffalo shoulder taxidermy mount. It is posed with the head in a semi-upright position looking straight forward out into the room. This mount can be hung at nearly any height for viewing, but would be especially great for those looking to hang the buffalo at (or below) approximately 10 feet in height, as many of the sneak position cape buffalos we offer need to be hung considerably higher to get the optimum viewing angle. The horns on this Buffalo have an impressive outside spread of 33″+ and boss widths of 10″+, with a SCI score of 84 6/8″. This Cape Buffalo has good hair and well done taxidermy work, earning our Nice™ overall quality rating. All applicable dimensions are included to help ensure this item will fit within your intended display space.

Animal Description

About the Cape Buffalo (Syncerus caffer caffer)

The cape buffalo thrives in virtually all variations of grassland habitats throughout sub-Saharan Africa, from lowland floodplains to dry savannah. The adult cape buffalo has a relatively thin black coat, while calves usually have a browner coat in color. The horns of the cape buffalo are unique in their design, as they actually “fuse” at the crown of the skull, which is referred to as the “boss.” From the base, the horns turn down and then bend up back towards the crown of the skull.
