About the Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio)
This species is native to the lakes and large rivers of Europe and Asia and has since been introduced to the Untied States as a domesticated species. This fish species prefers slow moving water bodies with aquatic sedimentation. Carp are omnivorous meaning they eat both vegetation and insects that they find scavenging on the bottom. These fish are known to lay nearly 300,000 eggs per spawn and can lay over million eggs in a year.
