Animal Description

About the Marbled Duck (Marmaronetta angustirostris)

The Marbled Duck is a pale sandy-brown color with off-white base feathers. This duck is native to the Mediterranean Sea area, predominantly found in Spain and Northern Africa. This is a species of dabbler duck which means it feeds in shallow waters and eats the submerging vegetation directly under the water’s surface. The duck tends to inhabit marshy wetlands with an abundance of shoreline vegetation. This duck nests near the water’s edge underexposed vegetation where an average clutch size may reach 12 eggs.
