Animal Description

About the Green Pheasant (Phasianus versicolor)

The Green Pheasant (or Japanese Pheasant) is identified partly by its dark green and purple colors on the breast feathers and neck. They can grow to nearly 6 lbs with an overall length of 30 inches or more. Males often display bright colors to attract their mates, while the females most often exhibit muted and camouflaged colors to help hide them from predators and better produce their young. Pheasant has the ability to fly over 50 miles an hour when fleeing from other Birds of Prey.
